Not Alone

Galatians 6:2

“My burden is borne by the others; their strength is my strength; when I falter and fail, the faith of the church comes to my aid.”

—SANCTORUM COMMUNIO

We need to be responsible for our own lives. But we don’t stand alone: the opposite should be true. We should be deeply embedded in the life of the Christian community so that when we falter and fail we can be restored, helped, and encouraged. The Christian is never to be alone; the Christian’s struggle should be supported by the faith, prayers, and care of the Christian community. And, of course, the Christian should in turn provide that level of support to other community members as well.

Thought
To be supported by the faith, love, and prayers of others acknowledges the reality of “the communion of saints” and expresses an important key in understanding what it means to be the body of Christ.
