God’s Work of Preservation
Genesis 1:28
“The natural is the form of life preserved by God for the fallen world and directed towards justification, redemption and renewal through Christ.”
—ETHICS
God is at work in our world not only through the instrumentality of the church, but also through the reality of work, family, government, and through those who work for justice, mercy, and peace. This is not to say that all work and government reflect God’s intention, but only that which conforms to His revealed will. Therefore, while we should rejoice in God’s common gift of a sustainable world, marriage, labor, and the good order of society, we should remember that God’s desire is that all these should reflect the redemptive work of His Son.
Meditation
Christians should not only work redemptively in the world, but should also work to preserve that which promotes the common good.
