The New Humanity

Romans 5:17

“The church … is a communion created by Christ and founded upon him, one in which Christ reveals himself as … the new humanity itself.”

—ACT AND BEING

The basic purpose of Christ’s coming into the world can easily become obscured. It is often said that Christ only came to give eternal life and the forgiveness of our sins. Clearly, Christ came to do much more. He came not only to redeem individuals, but also to change society and the whole of created reality. A narrow view can obscure the fundamental purpose of His coming: namely, that He is the head of the new humanity which is called to pattern its life in discipleship on that of Christ.

Thought
If we wish to embrace Christ’s salvation and forgiveness, we must grasp His call to be His followers in faith and commitment.
