Breaking Free
2 Peter 1:3-4
“The devil will always be in the place where I ought to have lived and did not wish to live as God’s creature in God’s world.”

When we live from and of ourselves, we will always be in a place where we lack authenticity. In living like that, we will probably lose ourselves to the powerful social forces which seek to dictate to us life’s meaning and purpose. When, however, we seek to live as God’s creatures in our world, we will always need to free ourselves from these social pressures. For the world’s values are not the drumbeat to which we wish to march, for we have heard the voice of Another. That voice is not always clear, but it has charmed us into an obedience by faith.
Meditation
To live as God’s creatures in our world means that we have to move from where we are to what God calls us to be.
