Fear of Others
Matthew 10:32-33
“Those who are still afraid of men have no fear of God and those who have fear of God have ceased to be afraid of men.”
—THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP
Each one of us has to be our own person. We need to have a strong sense of what we are about, set our own direction, and live purposefully and boldly. This boldness comes from knowing that we are living according to God’s intention. In living out God’s will, we will be misunderstood. But we are not to be afraid, for if we live according to what others want, they will eventually despise us anyway. The basic motivation of life is that we please God more than people, but that we serve people through God’s love.
Thought
If we simply live to please others, we will be despised; if we live for ourselves, we will be lost; if we live for God, we will live for ourselves and for others.
