Christ on the Road with Us
Matthew 11:29
“Only the man who follows the command of Jesus single-mindedly and unresistingly lets his yoke rest upon him, finds his burden easy and, under its gentle pressure, receives the power to persevere in the right way.”
—THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP
Without the word of Jesus for our lives, we may be busy and active, but we cannot be ultimately productive. Nor are we purposefully sustained and encouraged. But in ordering our lives on the words of Jesus, we may find ourselves walking a difficult road. On that road we will be kept, for the Master Himself is with us.
Thought
The alternatives are not “life without the words of Jesus will be easy” and “life obeying Christ is hard.” Rather the options are “without the words of Christ, we walk alone” and “in obeying Him, He is with us.”
