To Act

Matthew 7:24

“Forgive my lack of faith and any wrong that I have done today, and help me to forgive all who have wronged me.”

—PRAYER FROM PRISON

The area where we fail most significantly is not in our actual wrongdoing, but in those areas where we fail to grasp the nettle, fail to take hold of the opportunity, fail to act decisively when we know we must, fail to take the next step that will lead us on a new journey, and fail to take the risk and thus to venture into new territory. Our sin is that we prefer safety to risk, and security to the walk of faith. For this we need not only God’s forgiveness, but also new courage to try again.

Meditation
Wrongdoing can be forgiven and corrected, but failing to act at all, while seemingly harmless, is more pernicious in its final outworking.
