Christ the Other
Revelation 3:20
“While I am still reflecting on myself in order to find Christ, Christ is not there.”
—ACT AND BEING
The inward journey to find myself may be a worthwhile project. But to find myself as the way to find Christ is doomed to failure. Christ and my inner self are not one and the same. This is good news. For it is far better that Christ be the other, the conversation partner, the One who stands over against me and yet is for me, than that He be more of what I am. Thus, while I need to journey inward in order to find myself, I discover Christ through revelation.
Meditation
The distinctions of Creator and creature, of I and thou are there not to divide, but to complement and to enrich.
