Christ and the World

2 Corinthians 5:20-21

“The world has known Christ and has turned its back on him, and it is to this world that the church must now prove that Christ is the living Lord.”

—ETHICS

There was a time in the Western world when the whole culture was basically Christian. That is no longer the case. Christianity is now frequently regarded with cynicism or disdain. There is little point in Christians longing for a return to that past era. The challenge is rather that we need to face the alien nature of our world and seek to rebuild its values with the claims of Christ. In that process, we clearly need to live out those claims ourselves. Our personal lives and the life of the church should be characterized by grace, healing, reconciliation, justice, mercy, freedom, and peace.

Thought
Christ’s relevance for the world will only become obvious when He is relevant in our own lives.
