In Christ

1 Corinthians 3:21-23

“Just as Christ is present as the word in the word, as the sacrament in the sacrament, so too he is also present as community and in the community.”

—CHRISTOLOGY

For the Christian, everything is to find its meaning in Christ. And everything apart from Him, no matter how good, holy, religious, and significant it may appear to be, is ultimately of little value, for it will lead us to idolatry or to despair. In the Bible, it is Christ that we are to seek. In the sacrament, it is Christ that we encounter by faith. And in the life of the Christian community, it is Christ by His Spirit who must enliven us lest we live on the depletable resources of human relationships and religious forms and ceremonies.

Prayer
Lord, apart from You I am nothing and have nothing that will be of lasting significance. Cause me to live out of the fullness of Your grace and empowerment. Amen.
