Self and Others
Romans 12:4-5
“When we want to calculate just how much we have learnt ourselves and how much we owe to others, it is not only un-Christian, but useless.”
—LETTERS AND PAPERS FROM PRISON
Our life cannot totally depend on others. This would breed dependence and undermine our own sense of dignity and responsibility. Instead, we need to find a balance between being our own person with a strong sense of self-identity and purpose and being open to the contribution, input, and encouragement of others. While we need to be responsible for the choices and decisions we make, we should always be open to and thankful for the contribution of others.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the way You have made me and the gifts You have given to me. Help me to use them, but help me also to be open to grow through the encouragement of others. Amen.
