Contributing to the Well-Being of the Church

Colossians 3:13-14

“Every member serves the whole body, either to its health or to its destruction.”

—LIFE TOGETHER

The church is a living organism, a body. Its main identity is not found in its formal structures, but in its relationship with Christ and with each other. In building relationships of freedom, encouragement, and care as the basis from which to serve each other, we contribute to the health of the whole body. In our failure or unwillingness to do this, we are forced to rely on the church’s formal structures which, in themselves, cannot produce the life that Christ wishes to give us. In rediscovering the personal dimension of what it means to be the church, we can find creative ways to encourage and build up each other.

Thought
In the church I can be a taker or a contributor, a blessing or a burden, a participant or an observer.
