Come as You Are
1 John 4:10
“You are a sinner, a great, desperate sinner; now come, as the sinner that you are to God who loves you. He wants you as you are; he does not want anything from you, a sacrifice, a work; he wants you alone.”
—LIFE TOGETHER
In human affairs, we often gain the impression that people want us or like us because they can get something from us. It is therefore hard for us to understand that God does not first of all ask things from us, but wishes to impart life to us. What is even harder for us to accept is that God not only welcomes us when we are good, but more particularly when we need His forgiveness.
Prayer
Lord, help me that my shame, guilt, or fear may never keep me from approaching You with the promise of Your grace and forgiveness. Amen.
