God’s Spirit and the Bible
John 16:13
“God’s Spirit battles only through the word of scripture and of confession.”

Spiritual enthusiasts always come with the claim that the Spirit personally told them to do this or that. That may well be the case, but God’s Spirit does not work apart from the Bible and the Bible cannot be understood apart from the Spirit’s guidance. Thus the Spirit’s direction is not something that is privately mysterious, but is something that should be publicly open. This does not mean that the Spirit may not reveal something new. But usually the new is something old in Scripture that has been neglected.
Meditation There is much in God’s Word that we neglect or ignore. This the Spirit seeks to bring to our attention, if we are searching for truth.
