God’s Creation
Psalm 95:3-5
“He [God] is bound not to the work, but he binds the work to himself.”
—CREATION AND FALL
God is not limited to His creation. He preceded it and is greater than the things He called into being. But the creation cannot exist without God’s maintenance and care. Similarly, we should not limit ourselves to the things we do. We also are more than the work of our hands. Although we, too, may need to maintain the things we have made and done, lest they fall into chaos or disrepair. While we may be attracted to creative activity, the work of maintenance also needs to be done.
Thought
Our work faces the threat of chaos and disintegration and therefore needs to be maintained, although in the final analysis we cannot fully maintain what we have made or done. We thus need to commit our work to God’s keeping and care.
