In Flight
Genesis 3:9
“Man has suddenly fallen from God and is still in flight.”
—CREATION AND FALL
Even though God has called us into relationship, we are still in flight. We withhold information. We mask our true feelings. We twist facts. We modify the things we should say. In these and many other ways we demonstrate that openness, truth, transparency, and simplicity don’t come naturally, but need to be striven for. Innocence is no longer an essential part of who we are. We therefore need constantly to be called to the light, called to accountability, and called to the truth. The great challenge for all of us is to stop running long enough to discover the truth about ourselves.
Thought
In our flight we hope to free ourselves, but instead we entangle ourselves ever more deeply.
