Good Out of Evil
Genesis 45:5
“The Christian … remains earthbound, even when his desire is towards God; he must go through all the anxiety before the laws of the world; he must learn the paradox that the world offers us a choice not between good and evil, but between one evil and another, and that nevertheless God leads him to himself even through evil.”
—NO RUSTY SWORDS
If good only emerges from good and evil from evil, then we are locked in to either of these possibilities. But God’s redemptive work has dynamited these limiting options. The miracle of God’s grace is that good can be brought forth out of evil, and that even our good needs to be surrendered to the purposes of God and be transformed by His grace.
Meditation
Our good will never be such that it will not need God’s participation, and our wrongdoing should always be transformed by His grace.
