Past Acts and Present Hope
Psalm 107:43
“We pray these Psalms when we regard all that God does once for his people as done for us.”
—PSALMS: THE PRAYER BOOK OF THE BIBL
We cannot argue that God will act for us in the same way that He responded to the heart-cry of the Psalmist. That would be an attempt to make God predictable. But we can make the heart-cry of the Psalmist our cry and believe that God will respond to us in ways that reflect His grace and care. In this way, God’s Word is a great encouragement, for He is equally faithful to us as He was to His people in the past.
Meditation
God’s acts of the past are characterized by grace and great generosity. We can be confident of nothing less for our own situations.
