Thankful Praise
Psalm 95:1-2
“To become thankful to God for the sake of Christ and to praise him in the congregation with heart, mouth and hands is what the Psalms wish to teach us.”
—PSALMS: THE PRAYER BOOK OF THE BIBLE
We find it difficult to accept that in the final analysis we don’t deserve anything. Therefore we might only feel like engaging in celebration, joy, and thanksgiving at significant times, or when we receive outstanding gifts. But thanksgiving is always appropriate, particularly when we meet together as the people of God, for there we can thank God for the joy of knowing Him and for the very life He gives us. Even when we don’t have much, we have much in knowing Christ.
Meditation
It is the Giver and not the gifts that we need to appreciate.
