Real Love

John 11:3

“Christ did not, like a moralist, love a theory of good, but he loved the real man.”

—ETHICS

Like others, the Christian also builds up systems of ethics and principles for being and acting in the world. There is nothing wrong with developing such systems. The only problem is that we can become more concerned with maintaining our systems than in genuinely caring for those whom our systems are meant to serve. It is always easier to be committed to principles than to be involved with the needs of real people. Our caring involvement with others will always mean a practical application of our ethical values.

Thought
It is more appropriate to get our hands dirty in the service of others than for us to have all our principles intact, but our hearts closed to the act of love and care.
